I originally met Camille when she was a bridesmaid in a wedding I photographed a few years back, and while I often “joke” that I remember all of my past bridesmaids from staring at their faces on my computer screen while editing, it’s basically true. So while I did remember Camille’s face when I first met her and Tim for coffee as they started their wedding planning process, it was then that I had the chance to actually hear about them + their story.
They first met in Peoria when they were both working in the same hospital, which is also the city where they had the chance to start dating, and fall in love with one another, and where they’ll get married next summer. However, Tim was planning to start his residency in Chicago soon when we were discussing their engagement session, so they decided to do their session here in the city where they’d soon be making even more memories together. As we began their session on this summertime morning and I asked when he’d be moving here, they informed me that Tim had actually started moving into his new place the day before our session, and as soon as we finished our session, he’d probably go right back to it. This sort of blew my mind, in a way – the fact that they took an already busy few days and added a session with me to the mix, but also that I was having the opportunity to be part of their very first memories with one of them being a Chicago resident. It felt extra exciting to bop around the city with them once I started thinking about how surreal each experience felt for me after my own initial move here, and watching them experience that felt like seeing everything with a fresh set of eyes all over again. They flirted and kissed and told me stories and talked about the future, and what a cool thing that I had the chance to be there capturing it.
