When I asked Ally and Mike how they first met, they explained that they had worked at the same school.
“I actually didn’t like him at first.” Ally laughed as she said this, but also maintained an air of matter-of-factness within the statement.
And I love this not only because of the way they met, but also because of her honesty. I’ve never been one for the classic love stories nor the notion of love at first sight, and instead loved the lack of romanticism in Ally’s description. They didn’t hit it off immediately and know they had found ‘the one’; they got to know each other, and started to understand one another’s humor and wit and quirks, and as time went on, that first impression grew to change, and Ally found herself falling for the guy she initially thought she “didn’t like”.
