I knew from the moment I met Traci and Sam that their wedding day would be a fun one, but I had no idea that it would completely surpass my expectations. Not only was the day continually calm, but it was laid back to the point that it truly felt as if we were all just hanging out rather than ‘posing for photos’ as we hopped around Peoria Heights, a neighborhood that means so much to the two of them. We made a stop at the spot where Sam proposed to Traci, and at Pour Bros., which is one of their favorite bars. They sipped drinks with their friends and celebrated with a round of shots, and I couldn’t stop grinning because everything and everyone felt so genuinely happy – happy for these two people they love, and happy to simply be in one another’s presence.

The afternoon continued in this same manner on into the evening, when toasts were made and the dance floor was opened. After dancing for a few songs, Traci and Sam grabbed their Moscow mules and made their way out back with their wedding party and parents in tow, as they all held sparklers in one hand and raised their glasses with the other. From there, they all made their way directly to the dance floor, and during the time I was there photographing, I can honestly say they hardly left it from that point on. As the band played, everyone danced and sang and joined them on the stage, and I found myself sticking around longer than was necessary simply because I was absolutely loving photographing people having this much fun, and simply being this alive. I think this is a testament to who Traci and Sam are as a couple – people who inspire liveliness, and exude happiness, and not only understand how to love and be loved, but find a way to make it the most important component of this big, incredible day.
